Selecting Blocks of Text in Windows

I'm trying to read books, that I copied from my computer to the sd card, with my KNFB Reader, but it's saying they're too big. So I'd like to be able to select certain portions of them, such as chapters, to save and read that way. I know, of course, about selecting line by line. But is there a way, either in Notepad, Wordpad or another free Windows program, to set blocks around text so that I can paste them into an empty file? I know this can be done with WordPerfect 5.1, but I'm not sure if my DOS laptop is currently working. I have WordPerfect 9 or 10 on this machine but am not sure if it's accessible or what the command would be for doing this, if the option is still available. Basically, I want to be able to set a block at the beginning of a chapter, then do a search for the next one and put the end of the block there, without having to select each line individually. Any help would be appreciated.

You might want to check out a program called EdSharp.

All you have to do is find the portion of text you want to select, hit f 8, then go to the end of the section you want to select and hit shift + f8.

I find it extremely useful, that way you don't have to hold down the shift key when trying to select a large amount of text.
